There are three main schools of Feng Shui, each
emphasizing a different set of principles and dimensions of awareness.
1. Compass School- uses the cardinal directions to orient the Bagua (the eight
tri-grams) from the I-Ching, Loshu or Magic Square Numerology and Auspicious
Numbers.
2. Black Hat School-popularized in the United States during the 1980s. This
school orients the Bagua from the front door rather than the cardinal directions.
3. Form School- uses the five animal forms (snake, tiger, dragon, tortoise,
phoenix) as models and focuses on the relationship between a dwelling and its
surroundings (landscapes and watercourses).
At times receiving input and guidance from different traditions provides much
needed perspective, while at other times it is best to look inward to find the
answers. There are many paths through any situation and Feng Shui can provide
illuminating insight. It is important to stay flexible and aware of what works
for you. Give a remedy time to take effect; not expecting instant results,
although sometimes it does occur. Start where you are and go from there. No
matter how much one strives to improve one's situation, some mysteries are
cannot be understood.
Whatever is dark (Yin) now, will inevitably become light (Yang).
